Welcome back and welcome to the new year, and it looks like it is going to be a year to remember! With a Federal election in the pipelines, reform is high on the agenda.
The Royal Commission into the Aged Care sector has commenced and while it will almost certainly shake some bad performers from the tree, it offers a key opportunity for those who are providing high-quality and innovative care to step forward and help the industry as a whole raise the bar.
For us as vital providers of professional industry training, it is important to keep abreast of the issues and challenges the Aged Care sector is facing and to actively contribute to its improvement with advocacy.
ACPET CEO, Troy Williams, is proactively championing the role of independent providers in supporting evolving business needs as we step into the 21st century.
“Independent providers in the Higher Education and VET sectors have demonstrated time and again their ability to equip students and businesses with the skills needed to meet the challenges and changes of the 21st century. Collectively, we’ll ensure that the independent sector is recognised for its ability to do this and continues to be an integral part of Australia’s education and training system.” Troy Williams
To this end, ACPET has now opened an office in Canberra to provide closer access to governance networks for input into policy formulation and regulation for the vocational education and training sector, with the aim of “transforming the policy debate”.
The Future of Work has again been a dominant theme globally as we enter the new year. We have included several McKinsey reports on the topic of retraining and reskilling workers in the age of automation. NCVER has also released a focus on Micro Credentials which are becoming integral to the worldwide discussion on the future of work, lifelong learning and the tertiary education sector
We’re looking forward to contributing to the debate this year, and wish you all the very best for the coming year in elevating your business and our sector to even greater heights.
